What is a D.O.?

OMT is similar to Chiropractic Manipulation; the difference is that some deep tissue massage is done before the actual "adjustment" occurs.

The adjustment is where I "crack" the joints.  Some patients need much gentler, “indirect” treatments, and no cracking at all.  Each treatment is individualized to what the patient needs, or what the patient's body is ready for.

Osteopathic Manipulation is a form of “body work.”  All of the nerves of the body come from the brain.  The cranial nerves exit to the face and throat, but the majority of the nerves run down the neck and back and exit the spine.  These nerves dictate the functioning of ALL body processes!!  In manipulating the head, neck, and spine, we are opening the body’s nerve, blood, and lymphatic flow, so that the body can have the chance to heal itself.

Your body can and WILL heal itself, if it is given the opportunity to do so.  This is the heart of Manipulation; that we are giving the body, or certain organs or areas of the body, a chance to heal, by increasing and/or normalizing the nerve, blood, and lymph flow.
